Postoperative Opioid Overdose
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
14:00 - Client arrived from the OR following a total hip arthroplasty. Received 250 mcg of fentanyl and 4 mg of midazolam intraoperatively. Client is currently groggy but arousable to verbal stimuli. Reporting pain as 8/10. PCA pump (hydromorphone) initiated per provider orders. 14:45 - Client found difficult to arouse. Snoring respirations noted. Skin appears pale and cool to the touch.
